Christopher Bull is a photographer and photojournalist from Cleveland, Ohio. He holds a B.S. in Physics and an M.S. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Akron, as well as a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Colorado. He is based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he works full-time as a pharmacist while continuing to develop long-form photojournalism projects and portrait work.
Christopher has spent time with diverse communities around the world, creating stories that center the lived experiences of the people he photographs. His projects have included documenting the all-women Peshmerga militia in Kurdish Iraq, sex workers in Guatemala City’s La Línea district, the isolated mountain communities of Kurdistan, the neighborhood that depends on Central America’s largest landfill for survival, and the structural failures affecting Cleveland—particularly the impact of the Cleveland Clinic on the country’s poorest major city.
His environmental portraits from Ghana and Malawi have received multiple awards, and his work has been published in a variety of outlets, including Collater.al in Italy. He also published his first photobook in 2024 which included selected works from previous travels.
“With photography, I aim to document the many communities who live with challenging and often overlooked realities. Guided by an unbound curiosity, I meet people where they are and take the time to understand their circumstances and the forces that shape them. My work seeks to confront the systems that create injustice and oppression while honoring the dignity of every person I photograph.
Though my artistic direction continues to evolve, people remain the unifying thread. I enter the worlds of others with openness and respect, allowing images to emerge that reflect not only their surroundings but what I sense of their inner experience.”
Currently working and residing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA but open for assignments anywhere.
